Donald Corpier Starr, born in Wichita, Kansas, has been drawing since the age of five, and he credits his mother and a select group of early educators for recognizing and encouraging his artistic abilities. Donald’s formal art education began with a summer school scholarship to the Belmont Art Studios in Wichita as a sixth grader. He received an Associate Degree from Coffeyville College in Kansas and later attended and studied art at the University of New Mexico in Albuquerque, before enlisting in the Air Force in 1971. He worked as an administrative clerk and graphics specialist during his eight years of service. Donald received a degree in Occupational Education from Southern Illinois at Carbondale in 1983 and later obtained an MFA (Illustration) from Syracuse University in 1990. Donald has worked as a production artist in Seattle in the late seventies, and just completed a full career with the Department of Navy and Department of Labor, Mine Safety and Health Administration as a civil service graphic designer and videographer. While with the Mine Safety and Health Administration, he was involved in both the Sago and Upper Big Branch Mine Accident investigations directing a team of MSHA photographers to photograph underground conditions for the investigation. Donald moved to Henderson, Nevada in 2014 after retiring in 2012 and is pursuing a full-time artist career. In July 2017, Donald received an Honorable Mention Artist Fellowship Grant Award, from the Nevada Arts Council.  In April 2018, he was selected as a 2018 PopArt Street Gallery Las Vegas Artist; www.ArtPopStreetGallery.com.
